Fighting Cellulite

I am 24 years old and I count myself as having an "average" body. I am neither overweight but nor am I "skinny".

For years though, not unlike most females, I've struggled with thinking that various parts of my body could be improved.

However, my legs were never one of those parts. My legs are pretty slender, so it's strange that my thighs should suddenly have CELLULITE!

My first question was, "how did this happen???" So I Googled it.

Here is what I found, thanks to webmd.com:

"Cellulite is nothing more than normal fat beneath the skin. The fat appears bumpy because it pushes against connective tissue, causing the skin above it to pucker.

Having cellulite doesn't mean you are overweight. Even thin people can have it. If you are overweight, however, losing weight may reduce cellulite.
Cellulite is more common among women than men. If other women in your family have cellulite, there's a good chance you will too.
Other factors that influence how much cellulite you have and how visible it is include:
  • Poor diet
  • Fad dieting
  • Slow metabolism
  • Lack of physical activity
  • Hormone changes
  • Dehydration
  • Total body fat
  • Thickness and colour of your skin
Cellulite tends to be less noticeable on darker skin. If you have light skin and plan to be out in a bathing suit or short shorts, applying a self-tanner may make the bumps and dimples on your thighs less noticeable."

Unfortunately a lot of the treatments are things that I would not do myself (liposuction, injectables etc.). I am not able to spend $$$$ on managing cellulite, and nor do I want to.

So, what are some alternative and relatively simple solutions that I'm going to try at home? I'm going to massage the effected areas, increase my activity and drink more water. I would say that normally I eat fairly well, my only weaknesses are junk food like chips and candy - but I will attempt to cut down on those, but I don't think that at this point in my life that my diet could really be effecting my cellulite (or maybe I'm in denial?).

There are many creams on the market that claim that they can get rid of cellulite, but I haven't tried any of them.

However, I have recently ordered a "special" cellulite massager, from Sephora. Also, Bliss makes another "special" massager, which contains caffeine, which is also said to be good to reduce the look of cellulite. Unfortunately it wasn't listed on the website when I first went looking, but, the messager that I purchased is plastic (not soap), so it should last much longer.

Here are some pictures of the products I've mentioned:

Cellulite Massager from Sephora - cost is $20.

SEPHORA COLLECTION - Cellulite Massager

FatGirlSoap from Bliss - cost is $22

Bliss - FatGirlSoap

You can order these products, and others, at sephora.com

I will keep you posted with my results once I have received and once I have started using my massager :)
